AMATEURS CZECH OUT GOLF | 20-06-2008
For the fourth successive year, amateur golfers in the Czech Republic are driving, pitching and putting in search of golfing glory and the prize of a lifetime. In what is officially the fastest-growing golfing nation in Europe, the Czech Republic has attracted a record number of players to the 2008 Volvo Masters Amateur, four qualifying rounds and a National Final to determine who wins that one coveted place in the Volvo Masters Amateur World Final, which concludes at the world-famous Valderrama for the first time this year.
320 players, a record 25% of them women are aiming for one of just 20 places in the Czech Republic National Final, which takes place at the picturesque
6,630-yard / 6,062m, Par-72 Golf Club Mariánské Lázne near the German border on 6th September.
Famed for its healing spring waters Mariánské Lázne will provide a perfect backdrop for the fourth annual Volvo Masters Amateur event in the Czech Republic.
Last year's Czech Republic qualifier MiroslaFilip Juhaniak, playing off a 0.5 handicap easily made the top half of the leaderboard in Spain.
Volvo Cars Czech Republic have lined up an impressive array of support sponsors, with every competing players receiving a golf shirt from leading clothing firm Oscar Jacobson, whilst the prize for a hole-in-one is a dream holiday for two at the Resort Paradis in Mauritius.
